A Radical Choice to Stop

…For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. –Ruth 1:16 ESV

Every day we face so many choices. What to wear? What to eat? How to prioritize the to-do list? Then, there are those every-once-in-a-while choices. You know, the ones that involve the pros and cons lists, the ones that lead to a whole new direction in life. The Bible is full of both types of choices. In Ruth’s example, she stood at a major crossroad in her life. Having lost her husband, what was she to do next? Should she follow her mother-in-law, Naomi, to Judah? Or should she return to Moab, where her family and life has always been? But Ruth said, “…For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the Lord do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you” (Ruth 1:16-17 ESV). What choices are you facing right now? In the midst of possibilities and questions and worry, STOP:Seek God first (Matthew 6:33).Trust His plan (Jeremiah 29:11).Obey Him in faith (John 14:23).Praise Him for leading you (Psalm 63:4).When we STOP, we are declaring God is true and faithful and just.

Thank God that He is full of faithfulness and justice.

Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the grace to STOP and make a radical change if He asks.
