Be Still

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. –Psalm 46:1 NIV

There are times in our lives when we must walk through difficult and challenging situations. We may feel overwhelmed to the point of despondency, wanting to just give up. Every method we have tried to correct the problem has failed. In difficult times, we tend to run here and there in desperation looking for the right solution without any success. Confusion, depression, and frustration take over our lives. We try to be strong, but the giants we face are just too big and the waves of the storm are just too powerful. We fear they will overcome us.My brothers and sisters in Christ, we ought not to fear! Like Peter (see Matthew 14:30-32 NIV), let us get back into the boat with Jesus as we pass through the ferocious seas that are surrounding us, for He will surely get us through every storm. We must hang on to the cloak of Jesus, not letting go until the storm passes and He brings the calm.God is our refuge and strength. He commands us in Psalm 46:10 (NIV), “Be still and know that I am God.” Therefore, we must stay calm, knowing with all certainty that our Lord is in control, and He will lead each of us to victory. Hallelujah! Amen!

prayer focuses

Father, teach us to focus our eyes on You—the God of all power and glory.

Lord Jesus, strengthen me to hold on to You no matter how ferocious the storm.
