But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. –James 1:6 NIV
One of the most vital lessons that Jesus taught was about the importance of faith. But, it is easy to forget that faith is just half of the equation. Choosing to get rid of doubt is the other half. When Peter saw Jesus walking on the water, he stepped out of his boat into the raging sea. For those few moments, he believed that he could walk on the water towards Jesus. This seemed like a great act of faith! But, when Peter focused on his surroundings and became overcome by doubt, he began to sink. As he started to sink, Jesus replied in Matthew 14:31 (NIV), “You of little faith...why did you doubt?”Having faith and refusing to doubt can be a battle when you focus on what you see in front of you. Instead of fixing your eyes on the physical circumstances raging on around you, and getting tossed by the wind, fix your eyes on Jesus. Allow Him to fill you with the faith needed to keep you steady.
Ask God for the strength to fix your eyes on Him so that no circumstance can deter your faith.
Thank God for being with you in every storm that you face.
