And the Lord said, “Now get up and cross the Zered Valley.” So we crossed the valley. – Deuteronomy 2:13 NIV
Have you ever spent time with friends, who were living in a different situation than you, and you thought, “I could live like that”? You might even wonder why they are established, and you are not. You begin to think that you would be happy to settle for that situation in life. You could make it work. You could make it fit. But, watch for the red flag words here.Ruminations which include fit, settle, and make it work are signs that the idea is out of alignment with God’s plan for you, which is perfect and good (Romans 12:2 NIV). It is sometimes difficult to accept that someone else is settled, making life work well, while you are still riding the camel through the desert. In Deuteronomy 2, we learn about the Moabites who were settled in the land God had given them. The Israelites must have been contemplating establishing themselves there, but the Lord instructed Moses to keep going. The Moabites final destination was merely a campsite for the Israelites. Are you tempted to build a stone home where God wants you to just pitch a temporary tent? The Israelites were eventually blessed in the Promised Land, but only because they kept going. Keep going to where God is calling you.
Ask God to help you focus on the destination He has planned for you.
Ask God to make you a blessing to others in places where you “camp.”
