Come and Worship – Part 1

For who in all of heaven can compare with the Lord? What mightiest angel is anything like the Lord? The highest angelic powers stand in awe of God. He is far more awesome than all who surround his throne. –Psalm 89:6-7 NLT

Thanksgiving has come and gone, Black Friday has passed, and many have begun moving full-tilt into the over-scheduled, high demands of the Christmas season. What can help you survive December’s month-long sprint? Worship. Focus on the purpose of this season.Quite a few people think that worship is about singing songs—which is true. But that’s only one facet of worship. Worship is a lot like the “thanks” people were tweeting and posting about last month—it’s easy, uncomplicated, and you don’t have to be able to sing! It’s true; you can worship even when you’re not at church, even if you’re not on a worship team. What is worship? Put simply, worship is focusing on God for who He is, not just for the things He’s done for you. It’s about recognizing how amazing He is, and expressing your awareness, awe, admiration, and gratitude to Him. Worship doesn’t have to be complicated—it is rooted in love.Today, take a moment to think about the greatness of God. Breathe in, breathe out, and focus upon one of God’s unique qualities or characteristics.More on worship tomorrow.
