The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. –2 Corinthians 10:4 NIV
A friend came to mind one morning, and I sensed the need to pray for her. I was confident that the Lord would hear my prayers, and that she would have a good day. I followed up with a phone call the following day. You can imagine my chagrin when she told me she’d had not just a bad day, but a very bad day. When I expressed my dismay, my wise friend replied, “Oh, but I can’t imagine how truly awful the day would have been if you hadn’t been praying.”If you’re praying for someone, yet situations or circumstances aren’t changing, do not be discouraged. Don’t be fooled into thinking your prayers don’t count—quite the contrary. Your prayers on the behalf of others may give them the strength to face another day, the courage to stand strong in the face of ridicule, or the ability to say “No” to a moment of temptation.Don’t be disheartened that the battle continues. After all, this is not our world. Instead, dig into your foxhole and stand firm! Use the weapons of your warfare and let the enemy know his only option is retreat—because your King will be victorious!
Thank God that His weapons are powerful! Ask God to help you stand strong as you pray for His victory against strongholds in others’ lives.
