Do You Desperately Need Rest?

By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. -Genesis 2:2 NIV

Do you wonder why you feel restless and lack peace in your life? Hebrews 4:3 says, “Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, “So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’” And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world.”

In chapter 4 it briefly reflects the story of the Israelites and tells about how they were not allowed into the promised land because of disbelief and not solely relying on God. They had no rest in their lives and they would receive no rest until they completely submitted to the will and commands of God. The Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years! God did not grant them their promised land because of their disobedience.

When you rely on your own strength you will surely fail because you are walking in disobedience. If you are experiencing unrest, ask the Holy Spirit to search you and reveal to you in what areas you have lacked faith and obedience and watch what He does in your life! As you enter His presence and rest, peace and joy begin to enter into your life. That missing link in life will begin to connect you back to the Father’s heart. He will begin to bless you beyond measure.

Bayside Community Church

At the beginning of each year, as a church, we set aside time for prayer and fasting. We believe God deserves our full attention and our best. So, before we fill our calendars for the year, we want to listen.  We say with Samuel, “Speak Lord, for your servant is listening”. (1 Sam 3:9)

These daily readings are collection of thoughts and scripture to use as prompts to invite you to dig deeper - to listen and lean in. Use the scriptures as a springboard to explore further. Consider praying through the scriptures given and let the Word of God speak.

We are praying that you will hear from God in personal and powerful ways over the next 14 days and beyond!
