So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. –1 John 1:6 NLT
Every day, we must deal with a variety of thoughts and feelings that enter our minds. Some could be enjoyable, while others are stressful. The battle in our minds is the most difficult one to fight. Social media, television, and negative news are just some of the agents that influence our thinking. We have to make a conscious effort to take thoughts captive when our thinking goes in the wrong direction. We have to learn how to filter our sinful and anxious thoughts by seeking the Holy Spirit. The transformation of our thinking isn’t quick or easy, but it is possible. It is time to let God be our strength. He is ready to help us with any thoughts that are moving us into a place of sin or despair. Romans 12:2 (NLT) tells us, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world but let God change you into a new person starting by the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Feelings are not facts! Jesus proclaimed the ultimate fact in Matthew 19:26 (NIV): “With God, all things are possible.”
Pray and ask the Lord for discernment, so that your thoughts and attitudes will not be contrary to God’s will.
Pray that the Lord will take your anxious thoughts captive.
