The Lord passed in front of Moses, calling out, “Yahweh! The Lord! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.” –Exodus 34:6 NLT
You’ve been called into a meeting with your boss knowing that you, and everyone under you in the organization, have majorly messed up! What do you want to hear from your boss? Now read today’s verse again to understand how our heavenly CEO deals with rebellion. After the Israelites rebelled, the Lord could have fired Moses. In fact, He could have fired the entire organization—the nation of Israel. Instead, He reminded Moses who He is—a compassionate, merciful, patient, loving, and faithful God.That is not what you expected to read, is it? The same God calls you to leave your mistakes (sins) behind, and to come, being met by His unfailing love, compassion, and mercy. In the next couple of verses, God says that He is the God of justice as well; but He’d much rather you be met by His love. Will you come? Will you accept His mercy and forgiveness? The process is simple: tell Him you messed up (once, twice, a thousand times; it doesn’t matter); ask Him to forgive you through Jesus; and then do what Moses did: “Moses immediately threw himself to the ground and worshiped” (Exodus 34:8 NLT).
Thank God for His unfailing love and faithfulness.
Ask Him to help you keep clean before Him and to develop a heart to worship Him.
