There is one who scatters, and yet increases all the more, and there is one who withholds what is justly due, and yet it results only in poverty. –Proverbs 11:24 NASB
This verse in Proverbs seems counterintuitive at first, doesn’t it? You would think that those who are stingy and hold onto their possessions might have more, but that is not what God is saying here. When we search deep within, we can see that God’s Word always reveals what’s written on the tablets of our heart, “…It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35 NASB).Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary states, “The true believer is a branch of the living Vine. When those that take root in the world wither, those who are grafted into Christ shall be fruitful. The righteous are as trees of life; and their influence upon earth, like the fruits of that tree, support and nourish the spiritual life in many.”As branches of the Living Vine, we have the privilege of being connected to the Source of all blessings. When those blessings enter into our lives, we have the opportunity to invest in others by giving our time, talents, and treasure to help others. Then as we invest in others and are faithful, God entrusts us with more, and our impact increases—on this earth and for eternity.
Ask the Father to help you look for opportunities to give to others.
Tell God how thankful you are for what He has given already you.
