God’s Presence

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…. –James 4:8 NKJV

Once a year, on Yom Kippur, the high priest would enter the temple and be allowed to go into the Holy of Holies. The Holy of Holies was separated from the rest of the temple by a veil to show the existence of a separation between God and humans. Only the high priest could perform the yearly sacrifice in the Holy of Holies. He would burn incense and sprinkle the blood of a sacrificial animal. This was done to atone for the high priest’s sin and those of the people. When Jesus died on the Cross, God tore the veil from top to bottom. His tearing of the veil symbolizes that Jesus’ death, once and for all, gave us access to the Father. We now have access directly to God without going through the high priest. Our sins were now atoned for by Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross. No matter what you are going through, God is with you. You can go directly to Him through prayer and ask Him to guide and help you. Your part is to accept the gift that He offers. No sin can separate you from His presence because His presence comes to you by grace, not by your works. Open your heart and ask Him to come near to you.

Father, help me see glimpses of Your glory wherever I turn.

Lord, please help me draw near to You. Thank You for loving me!
