Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died-more than that, who was raised to life-is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. –Romans 8:34 NIV
In John 11:38-44, we read the story of Jesus at the tomb of Lazarus. Jesus was deeply moved when he arrived at the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance, one much like the one He would soon be laid in. He told those present to roll away the stone, Martha protested because her brother had been dead four days and would surely stink. Jesus assured her that if she believed, she would see God’s glory. They removed the stone, and Jesus prayed. He thanked the Father for always hearing His prayers. Then, He called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” The dead man emerged, wrapped in burial cloths, very much alive. What if Jesus hadn’t prayed for Lazarus? Would his friend have risen from the dead anyway? Certainly not! We need Jesus, not only for the major miracles, but for the everyday challenges of life. Romans 8:34 tells us that Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father and intercedes for us. Jesus prays for you and me continually. And, if Lazarus could be raised from the dead by His prayers, so can the Lord surely intervene in your circumstances. Jesus prays for us personally. So, we need to arise from our tombs of doubt and believe.
Lord Jesus, when I get discouraged over an unanswered prayer, help me to remember that You are praying for me.
Lord, help me to wait patiently for Your will, Your way, and Your timing in responding to my prayers.
