Hold onto Hope

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. –Romans 15:13 NIV

Disappointments in life are felt by everyone, and they are often not easy to overcome. However, the Bible is full of verses about hope—even in the face of disappointment. We are instructed to endure and have hope as we look to the future. When the storms of life come, as they certainly will, we must trust in the Lord. Through Christ’s love, we have hope for better days to come.If we react with resentment when faced with disappointments, giving into our emotions, our hope begins to fade. In Ephesians 1:18 (NIV), Paul pleads to the Lord for us, “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.” Our hope is based on the promises of Jesus. Hebrews 10:23 (NLV) says, “Let us hold on to the hope we say we have and not be changed. We can trust God that He will do what He promised.”Finally, let us meditate upon Isaiah 40:31 (NIV), “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Never lose your hope!
