Stand up, God; pit your holy fury against my furious enemies…. –Psalm 7:6 MSG
In this psalm the author, David, called down God’s fury—His violent anger, rage. Though most would be terrified to call on God’s rage, the astonishing thing about the psalms is they show God is big enough to handle that much anger in your soul. He’s also loving enough to listen to you, strong enough to handle your complaint, and discerning enough to know how to manage the situation.Interestingly, it seems just taking the time to dump your frustrations on God (see 1 Peter 5:7 NLT) can be enough to help you think a little more clearly about life. The last verse in Psalm 7:17 (MSG) says, “I’m thanking God, who makes things right. I’m singing the fame of heaven-high God.” Ah! Equilibrium restored, again.Father, thank You so much that You are the Big God and able to handle unfiltered anger and rage. Please help me to turn to You first, and quickly; and help me to trust Your answers and Your timing. You’re amazing!
