How Ya Doin’?

…Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang: “He is good; his love endures forever….” –2 Chronicles 5:13 NIV

In the Bible, we are each instructed to “rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16 – 18 NIV). We are to be thankful on a daily basis. But how’s it going? Have you remembered? Or, has life become hectic and have the days slipped away from you?The absolutely great thing about God is that He delights in hearing your praises—your words of thanksgiving—any time, any day. Are you going to be driving today? Tell Him thanks for the gas in your car. Do you have a BFF, or maybe a significant other? Tell God how much you appreciate those people—even on the days when they challenge your soul and godliness. If you really want to get crazy, compose your own “thanks song” and sing it to God. Add a new verse every day. And if you get really brave, share it with your BFF and invite him or her to add their own verses. (BTW, in Bible songs, frequently a “verse” is only one or two simple phrases such as, “Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His love endures forever.”)Speak it, sing it, or write it. However it works for you, give thanks to the Lord!
