The rain came, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. –Matthew 7:25 NIV
Storms are a fact of life for those of us living in Florida. Some can pop up without warning, while others are tracked and closely watched by meteorologists. We hold our breath, wondering whether the tropical depression will turn out to be a full-blown hurricane, a tropical storm, or merely a bout of wind and rain. Many hurricanes are at first alarming, but eventually they may blow out to sea, never amounting to anything.
Just as with hurricanes, no one is exempt from the storms of life. How do we brace ourselves and get through them? With any storm, we are instructed to seek shelter. As Christians, we have Gods promise to find shelter under His wings. Psalm 91:1-2 (NIV) tells us, “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’” We need not fear the storms in life because we are secure in Him. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV) says, “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” No storm is too big for our God. He will be with us in all of our times of trouble.
Thank the Lord for His hand of protection as you face the storms of life.
Pray for the Lord’s peace that passes all understanding as you face any storms today.
