For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes. –Proverbs 24:16 NIV
More often than not, we think problematic people, circumstances, or situations are our enemy when we’re aiming to live a victorious Christian life. However, our real opponent is Satan and his minions who try to hinder God’s good plans for not only our lives, but those of our loved ones.On our own, we are no match for the enemy, but through the power of the Holy Spirit within us, we can overcome every battle that comes our way. To win these battles, we must realize how cunning and deceitful our real enemy is. He will oppose any advancement of God’s Kingdom work being done through us. Whatever God loves, Satan hates. Whatever Satan loves, God hates. We can’t allow discouragement, setbacks, or depression to keep us down. We must refuse to be defeated. Instead, we are to arise and start throwing powerful punches of praise, shooting arrows of prayer, and firing canons of God’s Word at whatever forces we are combatting. We must remember that oftentimes, our most immense battles will come right before our greatest triumphs. With Jesus in our corner, we’re sure to come out winners as He brings our foes down one by one. Our victory is in the making!
Thank you, Lord, for giving me victory over sin, death, and my enemies.
Holy Spirit, help me to not fight evil with evil but to overcome wickedness with Your goodness.
