Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances. –1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV
There is a difference between joy and happiness. Happiness will come and go based upon circumstances, but joy can be yours always, in every situation—just ask God to fill you with His joy. The key is in remembering that it is God who enables you to persevere through all things. In times when you can’t seem to find joy, don’t stop praying, and don’t give up. “Sing praise to the Lord, all you who belong to Him. Give thanks to His holy name...His favor is for life. Crying may last for a night, but joy comes with the new day” (Psalm 30:4-5 NLV).Prayer is the antidote to worry. Worry brings stress and sickness, but God brings answers and comfort. While you’re waiting for God to answer your prayers, have faith and dance in advance! Thank God for His help before you see it. This will increase your joy and expectation, and it will keep you focused on the goal, rather than the journey toward it. Always remember that you can do all things through Christ’s strength (Philippians 4:13).
Thank God for His promise to always be with you.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you seek joy more than happiness.
