Let All That I Am – Part 1

Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. –Psalm 103:2-3 NLT

“Let all that I am praise the Lord….” It would be easy to talk about the “all,” but the word that got my attention is “am.” Even though I’m a non-English-grammar kinda girl, I’m pretty sure that “am” is present tense, not yesterday’s state of being—when I was comfortable and thought I knew what tomorrow held; not tomorrow’s state of being—which is potentially scary and unknown; but now, today’s mindset—when I’m unmotivated and can’t figure out how to healthily fill fourteen waking hours of time.Today, when I sure have no clue what’s coming my way tomorrow. Today, when it feels like almost all purpose has been stripped away and all that’s left is me and Jesus.“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God” (Psalm 42:5 NIV). Oh, right! What’ve I been thinking? Certainly not about my King, my hope and my salvation! So, while I’m in these moments of unsureness, I will put my hope in God, and I will praise Him, my Savior and my God. And although I shouldn’t be surprised, sometimes I’m still surprised that when I trust God, I find peace, purpose, comfort, and security.Church, put your hope in God and let us praise Him, our Savior and our God.
