Let Christ Shine Through You

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl… –Matthew 5:14-15 NIV

When we trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior, we’re immediately called out of the darkness and into His marvelous light. The Bible says, “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Corinthians 4:4 NIV). Before we invited Jesus into our hearts, we lived in spiritual darkness. Now as children of the Light, it’s important that Christ shines through us.Our witness for Christ should be public, not kept secret or hidden. We ought not to hide what Jesus has done for us. We are commanded to share our faith so others might be saved. Only then can they come out of the darkness that they were living in and enter His glorious Light. As Christ followers, we are to shine brightly against the dark backdrop of this fallen world, thereby revealing Jesus to others. We are not to be disconnected from the world, but to remain connected so God can use us as Christ’s representatives. As we remain plugged into our power source (the Holy Spirit) and spend daily time in the Lord’s presence, we will continue to shinebrightly for Him.

prayer focuses

Lord, I seek to shine brightly for the cause of the Gospel.

May I never be ashamed to share the Good News with others. Holy Spirit, help me to be a witness for Christ to those who are near to me and who God brings my way. In Jesus’ name, amen.
