Making the Most of Your Time

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. –Ephesians 5:15-17 ESV

Each day is a unique gift from the Lord. Unlike a movie, it cannot be rewound or replayed. Once it is gone, it is gone forever. Are you effectively using the time the Lord has given you within each precious day? It is easy to fall into the same habitual pattern day in and day out with a sense of complacency as life seems relatively easy, comfortable, and safe. Yet, this lack of God-given purpose often stems from an unhealthy emphasis on self, along with failure in the call to serve God and others. Jesus calls us to be the light of the world: “…let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16 NIV).Don’t waste your God-given talents on inaction or self-absorbing matters. Pray that the Lord will place on your heart how best you might serve Him each day, and that you will follow through without making excuses. Set aside time daily to be with the Lord alone, asking for His guidance and direction. As you draw near to God, His Holy Spirit will fill you with renewed energies, inspiration, vision, joy, and purpose.
