Nothing Withheld

But the angel of the Lord called out… “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.” –Genesis 22:11-12 NIV

Abraham laid his precious son Isaac on the altar, surrendering everything. Because God saw that Abraham would hold nothing back from Him, He knew Abraham’s heart was His. That’s where the blessings began. What is our goal in prayer? Do we go to God to get what we want as though He’s a genie in a bottle? Do we get upset with God when He doesn’t answer our prayers the way we think He should? Doesn’t our Lord, who sees ahead and makes provisions, know exactly what we need and when we need it?None of us like to go through hardship, yet it is quite often that trying times develop the character we need to become who God created us to be. Our Lord knows exactly what it takes to bring us to the calling He has placed on our lives. Trust His will and His ways. Let your heart’s cry be, “Thy will be done.” When we surrender all, laying everything on the altar, miracles begin and blessings will come.

prayer focuses

Lord, I lay my troubles at Your feet today, trusting that You will work everything for good.

Lord, examine my heart and show me areas that I am withholding from You. Help me to surrender them to You today.
