Off to War

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds. –2 Corinthians 10:3-4 NKJV

Before a nation goes off to war, they prepare for battle. Troops are gathered and sent to a rigorous training camp, where the soldiers are challenged in every way possible. The trainers teach the soldiers discipline, how to fight, and how to use weapons of warfare. My beloved, do we not have to do the same? Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) says, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood….” Being in the world, we walk into battle on a daily basis. Therefore, we must prepare for our spiritual battle by putting on the whole armor of God (see Ephesians 6:11). We must walk into battle with one purpose, one state of mind: We will win! We will conquer the enemy and return to camp victorious. Our enemy, the devil, does not sleep because his goal is to steal and destroy our life. The good news is that we have the Captain who does not rest or sleep either. He knows every strategy of the devil. Jesus will lead us into battle with a mighty hand. Joshua 1:5 (NIV) says, “No one will be able to stand against you….” Our King has promised never to leave us nor forsake us. Come on, let’s walk into battle fully equipped to fight our enemy!

prayer focuses

My Father, my beloved Abba, thank You for giving us weapons of spiritual warfare so we can live a life of victory.

Jesus, my King and Captain, thank You for Your leadership and protection throughout each of my battles!
