Prayer & Fast - Day 12

Isaiah 43:7-13; Matthew 28:16-20

According to Isaiah 43:7, we are created for His glory. We are witnesses chosen to know and believe Him. What does it mean to be created for His glory? The Hebrew word for glory is “kabod” meaning weight, heaviness (figuratively) honor, abundance, riches, and reputation. In ancient biblical history, all value was estimated on the basis of weight. We were created to be God’s abundance in a world of scarcity and to live out the estimation of His value with our lives. As we’ve already seen (Day 2), this word “know” in Isaiah 43:10 implies a knowing that is intimate, at the heart level, not just the head. This invitation to an intimate relationship with the Lord is very personal and beautiful. However, these passages in Isaiah and Matthew give us a broad sense of what our ultimate purpose is – to know God but not just know Him, but to also make Him known. The final words of Jesus to His disciples in Matthew are to “go”. Go and tell a broken, hurting world that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and that no one comes to the Father except through Him. (John 14:6)Go and tell a broken, hurting world that Jesus alone can mend their broken places and heal their hurts. He alone can satisfy their longings and give them the desires of their hearts. Go and tell them that true freedom, meaning, and purpose are found only in knowing and following Jesus. And don’t just tell, but teach them how to live that out.

Bayside Community Church

At the beginning of each year, as a church, we set aside time for prayer and fasting. We believe God deserves our full attention and our best. So, before we fill our calendars for the year, we want to listen.  We say with Samuel, “Speak Lord, for your servant is listening”. (1 Sam 3:9)

These daily readings are collection of thoughts and scripture to use as prompts to invite you to dig deeper - to listen and lean in. Use the scriptures as a springboard to explore further. Consider praying through the scriptures given and let the Word of God speak.

We are praying that you will hear from God in personal and powerful ways over the next 14 days and beyond!
