Prayer & Fast - Day 13

1 Peter 2:4-10; Leviticus 9:1-7, 22-24; 1 Kings 8:1-11

Have you ever asked the question, “what is my purpose in life”? We probably all have at one time or another. While your specific calling in life or the unique talents, skills, and wiring might be unknown to you today, there are some responsibilities in Scripture we, as followers of Christ, are all called to. One of those is found in 1 Peter 2:9, we are a royal priesthood. Regardless of how you were raised, put aside your priestly image and embrace the truth that you, we, all who have crossed the line of faith, are priests! Collectively, we are a kingdom of priests!!What does it mean to be a kingdom of priests? God’s plan for His people and the institution of the priesthood help us understand this better. Here is what we know about the role of a priest from Leviticus:A Priest:1. Puts God on display2. Helps people navigate their atonement (knowing that Christ died for our sins)3. Intercedes on behalf of others4. Distributes resources to those in needIsn’t that beautiful? I invite you today to see yourself carrying out those tasks! You are called, you are chosen, you are a royal priesthood! Here are a few ways you can do that:· Put HIM on display today in your life, in your home, and at work.· Point people to Jesus, invite them to church and tell them that Christ died for their sins.· Pray for one another, bearing their burdens.· Show hospitality through generosity to those in need.Ours is a high calling. It is a privilege to reflect the life and love of Jesus to this broken world. How will we live that out today? How will you put HIM on display?

In what ways is the Holy Spirit speaking to You from God’s Word?  How can you apply this to your life? Take some time to journal your thoughts.

Prayer Jesus, I am in relationship with You today because someone took seriously their role as “priest” in my life. Help me today to live as a kingdom of priests. Help me fulfill my purpose today by . . .

Bayside Community Church

At the beginning of each year, as a church, we set aside time for prayer and fasting. We believe God deserves our full attention and our best. So, before we fill our calendars for the year, we want to listen.  We say with Samuel, “Speak Lord, for your servant is listening”. (1 Sam 3:9)

These daily readings are collection of thoughts and scripture to use as prompts to invite you to dig deeper - to listen and lean in. Use the scriptures as a springboard to explore further. Consider praying through the scriptures given and let the Word of God speak.

We are praying that you will hear from God in personal and powerful ways over the next 14 days and beyond!
