2 Kings 13:10-21
The story found in 2 Kings 13:10-21 is the story of the death of the prophet Elisha. Before he dies, he has an encounter with Jehoash, King of Israel. It's an odd story about Elisha telling the King to strike the ground with his arrows (13:18) and then getting angry because the King strikes the ground only 3 times. There are many more implications than this, but here’s something that is striking (no pun intended) - the arrow, as a weapon for your victory, is only effective when it is released. Let that sink in for a moment. When we consider our purpose on earth, as Christ-followers in this generation, it’s wise to consider what we have in our hands and hearts that can be used to bear fruit and bring glory to our Father. Every ordinary thing we possess can be used and made extraordinary through the empowering of the Holy Spirit. What is in your hand? What "arrows" do you have in your quiver? Which is to say, what are your gifts, talents, abilities, and wiring? Are you releasing them for the Lord, giving your all, never quitting? That arrow is only effective when it is released!!
In what ways is the Holy Spirit speaking to You from God’s Word? How can you apply this to your life? Take some time to journal your thoughts.
Prayer Father, help me to release my God-given talents and abilities to You for Your use. Use me to further the Kingdom of God here on Earth. The arrows I have to release for You are . . .
