Prayer & Fast - Day 5

Psalm 86:1-13; 1 Samuel 2:2; Isaiah 46:9-10; Revelation 4:8-11

To know God is to know and trust His character. Who is He? Through God’s Word, the Holy Spirit reveals to us the heart of God in the most beautiful of words and ways. In our reading today, we learn that God hears us, protects us, and brings mercy and joy. He is forgiving, good, and abounding in love. He is holy, holy, holy and there is none like Him. Pause for a moment and praise Him for who He is; who you know Him to be in your own life.Consider who He is through the arc of the biblical narrative and worship Him. He is Creator, Redeemer, Restorer, Rebuilder. He is the Passover Lamb, Deliverer, and Atoning Sacrifice. He is Prophet, Priest, and King. He is Sovereign, Shepherd, Burden Bearer, Waymaker, Miracle worker, Promise Keeper, and Rebuilder of walls. He is God with us and for us. He is the Way, the Truth, the Life, the Resurrection. He is Faithful, Just, Pure, Good, and Righteous. He is the Light of the World and the Bread of Life. He is your Wonderful Counselor, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. There is none like You, Lord! Continue in worship of Him by declaring who is He or who you need Him to be in your life right now. His beauty and power are inexhaustible.

prayer focuses

In what ways is the Holy Spirit speaking to You from God’s Word?  How can you apply this to your life? Take some time to journal your thoughts.

Prayer In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit – teach us about You, let worship, honor and glory to You rise up in us and overflow to this world so desperate for You. Lord, we want to know You more. Today, I call on Your name . . .

Bayside Community Church

At the beginning of each year, as a church, we set aside time for prayer and fasting. We believe God deserves our full attention and our best. So, before we fill our calendars for the year, we want to listen.  We say with Samuel, “Speak Lord, for your servant is listening”. (1 Sam 3:9)

These daily readings are collection of thoughts and scripture to use as prompts to invite you to dig deeper - to listen and lean in. Use the scriptures as a springboard to explore further. Consider praying through the scriptures given and let the Word of God speak.

We are praying that you will hear from God in personal and powerful ways over the next 14 days and beyond!
