…I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation…. –Philippians 4:12 NIV

Sometimes life feels like a roller coaster, when event after event threatens to fling you right out of your seat of contentment, joy, and peace. Worry and frustration tear at you and seem to randomly bounce your mind between multiple worst-case scenarios. In these times, you often wonder why God doesn’t secure you in place and give you a perfectly smooth ride. While there is certainly no pat answer for all the confusing situations that exist in the world, you can be at peace because at its core, contentment is a matter of trust. In difficult times, it’s imperative that you choose to trust God, even—and maybe especially—when things don’t make sense. Say out loud if necessary, “God, I hate this, but I trust You. God, I don’t know why this is happening, but I trust You. God, I feel confused and fearful, but I trust You.” As you learn to strap yourself in with confident belief in your heavenly Father, a foundation is formed that will help you ride out the twists and turns of life and arrive in the station with your faith intact.

prayer focuses

Ask God to help you trust Him, regardless of how crazy your situation seems.

Ask Jesus to remind you that He is near and will never abandon you.
