Jesus reprimanded them. “Why are you such cowards, such faint-hearts?” Then he stood up and told the wind to be silent, the sea to quiet down: “Silence!” The sea became smooth as glass. –Matthew 8:26 MSG
Continuing yesterday’s devotional, often when we experience stormy weather trials, we develop a stronger faith in God. When all settles down, we know without doubt Jesus was with us in the middle of the storm, and He faithfully led us through to quieter waters. In Mathew 8:23-27, Jesus was in the bow of a boat asleep when a furious storm came and caused the disciples to become afraid—but Jesus wasn’t troubled by the storm. He simply got up and rebuked the winds and waves, causing the storm to calm down.If you’re currently going through a stormy time, don’t fear! Instead, turn to Christ like the disciples did on the boat. If Jesus calmed a tempest at sea, He can calm your storm too. Whatever the squall might be, God wants to calm you inwardly and lead you into His safety harbor of peace. Let Jesus be the Captain of your ship, let go of all cargo that’s weighing you down, rebuke the works of the enemy, and praise God ahead of time for your victory! In time, your storm will cease and you will thank God for bringing you through the stormy weather.
Ask the Holy Spirit to remind you to cry out to Jesus and ask Him to sustain your soul through difficult times.
Thank God for always being alert, present, and making a way for you to experience the safety of His harbor of peace.
