Take Control of Your Thoughts

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. –John 14:27 NIV

Fear and worry are choices. You have the ability to walk in peace or to be fretful and walk in doubt, fear, and worry. In John 14:26 (ASV), Jesus says that “the Comforter…shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said unto you.” The more time you spend with God and in His Word, the more often He is able to plant His truths in your heart. On days when you struggle, He will remind you that He loves you, that He is with you, and that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. The Bible says the fruit of the Spirit—the result of walking with the Spirit—is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23 NLT). It is up to you to choose who or what will rule your emotions.Take charge of your thought life. Don’t let it run wild without a leash. When negative thoughts enter your mind, replace them with God’s promises. When hopelessness abounds, cast those thoughts to the sea and replace them with the promise found in Romans 8:28 (NIV), “In all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
