Thankfulness

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. –Romans 1:21 NIV

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you awake? Does it have to do with your job, children, exercise, or errands you need to accomplish? What you receive on a regular basis can be taken for granted. God has blessed you with another breath and sunrise. This could change in a blink of the eye. However, no matter what course of events take place, gratitude for His grace and mercy should be constant.Stop and count your blessings—name them one by one. Above all, thank God for the gift of His Son. You were created to honor the Father and give Him thanks. He sent His one and only Son for you. His death and resurrected life was given for you. If you were the only person on earth, He still would have gone to the cross on your behalf.Thanksgiving Day should not be once a year. You should be thankful every day. Just as Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV) tells you, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”
