The Bible: God’s Media

A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones. –Proverbs 14:30 NIV

One of the biggest stumbling blocks in a Christ follower’s walk is comparison. It’s a trap that we all are vulnerable to, especially in the age of social media where Facebook and Instagram posts make us feel like someone is always better off than we are. Someone always has a bigger house, smarter children, a better job, or more friends.Don’t look to your friends, your spouse, your parents, your kid’s accomplishments, or even your natural talents or profession to define you. If you do this, it’s easy to always find something to envy. Instead, define yourself by God’s media pages. Your heavenly Father has posted a lot about His children on His site, too.He declares that you are fearfully and wonderfully made, created in His image, justified, and redeemed. He goes on to say that He knows every hair on your head and has a unique plan for you—and only for you. His posts say you can do anything He asks of you. You are righteous, clean, and holy. Turn your eyes from the comparison of social media and fix them on the truth that God speaks about you. Believe you are who He says you are!

prayer focuses

Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help you be content, not comparing your life with others.

Thank God for all the good in your life and for the blessing of the people He’s put in your life.
