Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. –Psalm 37:4 ESV
To have delight is to have a high degree of gratification or pleasure; extreme satisfaction. So to delight in the Lord is to show the highest degree of gratification and pleasure, which is what God desires from you, His child. God’s heart is filled with overabundant joy when a child of His seeks to bask in His glorious presence, when a child of His proclaims His love in the morning and His faithfulness at night (Psalm 92:2), when children of His sing for joy to Him and shout aloud to the Rock of their salvation (Psalm 95:1). Every time you enter His gates and His courts, do so with thanksgiving and praise; and when you worship Him, do so with gladness and come before Him with joyful songs (Psalm 100:2,4). Your God is the Creator of the universe. He deserves to be praised during every waking moment of your day. Come on Church! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord (Psalm 150:6). Delight yourself in your Triune God and watch the desires of your heart be given to you. Hallelujah and amen!
Holy Spirit, fill me with the desire to seek You with an open heart.
Help me, Lord, to delight myself in You so I can worship You in the splendor of Your presence.
