The Waves Of The Sea

The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, than the mighty waves of the sea. –Psalm 93:4 NKJV

Just imagine yourself coming face to face with a powerful, frightening ocean wave. Surfers often go to the beach in search of the “perfect wave” for the “perfect surfer’s thrill” and view these powerful waves as a fun challenge. As beautiful as the waves of the sea may appear, do not forget how ferocious a mighty wave can be in the ocean. They can cause injuries to extremities or the cervical spine and even death in the wrong conditions.

Sometimes in your life you have storms that feel like mighty ocean waves. They may even feel like a tsunami at times. You feel the deadly powerful wave of your storm and think you are too weak to withstand its pull. You can’t see clearly; you are confused and despondent. You feel helpless. But, oh my friend, look who is approaching! Look who is fighting the mighty waves to reach you! The Lord of hosts who fights for you is coming. Don’t despair! He will reach you and wrap you in His arms until the storm calms down. After all, the wind and the sea still obey His voice. Remember the mighty waves of life are no match for our Savior.

Friend, when the mighty waves of life are beating up against you, give a great shout, “Jesus, save me!” Then see how the powerful hand of Jesus will deliver you from the wrenches of your storm.

prayer focuses

Father God, the ferocious storms of life are so powerful. Help me to see You clearly Lord, and give me the strength to prevail.

Open up my eyes Lord so I can see You. Open my ears so I can hear You and my heart so I can know You in times of storms.
