But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. –Luke 5:16 NIV
We sometimes find ourselves alone, just as Jesus did. But, as believers, we are not truly alone; Jesus is our constant companion. Just as we need time with friends, family, and others, we must have time one-on-one with our Lord. When others are absent, we have the opportunity to spend intimate, quality time with Jesus, drawing closer to Him in prayer. He is with us in our lonely places, and only He can fill the void of emptiness we feel. Our God is the God of peace and the God of comfort. As we remain focused on Him, He continues working in our lives. He encourages us as a best friend. And, unlike human friends, He will never leave us or turn away. This best friend brings us peace, strength, and security, as God’s truth lives within us. He will help us find blessings in all situations. He will never abandon or leave us. He will give us comfort and rest as we withdraw to our lonely places and pray.
Ask the Lord to help you draw close to Him when you are alone.
Ask God to reveal someone who needs your godly company in his/her place of loneliness.
