Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” –Matthew 26:39 NIV

Isn’t it easy to say, “God knows what’s best” and “He cares” when things in life are going well? God is never surprised by what is happening to you. Isaiah 45:7 (NLT) says, “I create the light and make the darkness. I send good times and bad times. I, the Lord, am the one who does these things. ”These are difficult words to receive. When the trials come, you can question why. You can’t fully comprehend why these painful things are happening. As hard as it may be this side of Heaven to believe, you are never left alone. He will step in the fire with you because He loves you and you belong to Him. Isaiah 43:2-3 (NLT) says, “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through the rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. burn you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus asked His Father to take away His suffering at the Cross but He didn’t—because of His love for you!
