…And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. –Micah 6:8 NIV
Have you ever been so frustrated with life’s challenges that you wanted to throw your hands up and scream, “God, what do you want from me?”Micah 6:8 (NIV) states the answer to this question quite simply: “…act justly…love mercy and…walk humbly with your God.” Begin by asking, “What’s right in this situation? What’s fair? Am I protecting the innocent?” These are questions related to justice.Secondly, love mercy. Mercy is foundational to God’s character. He expects you to show the same love and forgiveness that He has shown you to everyone around you.Thirdly, examine your heart for humility. Resist the urge to be prideful, depending upon your own talents, wisdom, or means. Acknowledge that God is your source. It is He who works through you. There is nothing you can offer that hasn’t come from God first. Walk humbly with God.So, what does God want from you? He doesn’t desire a better prayer, another sacrifice, more offerings, or more regrets. Ask yourself: Am I acting justly and offering mercy? Am I humble? Do I need a heart change today? These are the actions that God desires of you!
Ask the Lord to examine your heart, revealing where you may be lacking in justice, mercy, or humility.
Pray and ask the Holy Spirit for the grace to grow in the areas of justice, mercy, humility, and love.
