I lift my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. –Psalm 121:1-2 ESV
I’ve never met a person who doesn’t need help. If someone claims not to need help, it can be because they are struggling with pride and releasing control. In Psalm 121, we see the answer to life’s problems, and it all begins with looking up. We often look to friends or family for help, but the first place we should begin is by looking to the Father. Doesn’t it make sense that the One who made heaven and earth would have all the answers we need?
When we abide with Christ and have a relationship with Him, God establishes our every step, and He won’t allow our foot to be moved. He will keep us on the straight and narrow path. And because the Lord never needs to sleep, we can trust Him to watch over us 24/7. The sun—the heat of life’s trials—will not strike us by day. The moon—He has not given us the spirit of fear but of a sound mind—will not strike us by night. He will keep us from all evil as we search His Word for wisdom and leading. He watches over us no matter where we go. God is our help. So, look up!
Father, help me to always look to You first for help. Give me the wisdom to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness.
Lord, You never sleep, and You never take Your eyes off of me. Help me to surrender everything to You and remember to look up at You.
