In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will… –Ephesians 1:11 NIV
Have you ever felt envious of someone else’s talents? Maybe he or she does something that you can’t do. Or perhaps there is something that you can do, but the other person does it just a bit better or gets the recognition for it that you feel you deserve. Here’s the good news! God has called you to a specific purpose for your life. He has a plan that involves you, and you are the only one who can fulfill it. So, don’t worry about what anyone else is doing. No one can steal your thunder. Applaud others for their talents, even asking them for help. Knowing that someone else has found his or her calling should be celebrated, especially when you let it sink into your heart that it doesn’t affect the outcome of God’s plan for your life.Start asking God to show you your purpose, and keep your eyes on the Lord, listening to His direction. You will find peace as you rest in God’s promise as expressed in Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV), that He “has plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Pray that the Holy Spirit will remove all envy, and instead prompt you to rejoice in other people’s accomplishments.
Pray that God would give you direction in His purpose and plan for your life.
